  • Quality a bit higher than your average tonkatsu place. Had a long line outside and food took a bit long to arrive. But worth the wait. Good dressings and sauces on the side with more refined taste than your fast food-tasting duly tonkatsu. Recommended

  • I eat at Wako all the time, at multiple locations. However, this one is probably the best branch I’ve been to. Staff are kind and friendly. Food is excellent as always. Highly recommend if you’re looking for good tonkatsu.

  • Delicious tonkatsu! Katsu and donburi were all great. The place was clean and the service was good. Good prices too. I would go back.

  • One of our fav tokatsu place in Shinjuku. The shrimp was yummy, and pork was tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. Service is friendly and fast.

  • Wako is a reliable delicious Tonkatsu chain that can be found in locations around Japan. I see many people posting these gourmet tonkatsu places, which I am sure are great (check some of my other reviews), but Wako's Katsu is on par with some of the best "boutique" Tonkatsu places. I went with my partner and a friend, they both had the super filet Katsu, and I also had a version of fillet or "hire" that was delicious. The taste is predictable, the cabbage, the rice, and the miso soup are all free refills, and I will happily eat at a Wako any day of the week.

  • Great place to eat in Shinjuku. The restaurant is located underground in the train area. English wasn’t great but enough to understand our order.

  • Our third visit to the Tonkatsu Wako chain brought us to their Subnade Shinjuku location, and it's by far the most spacious and brightest we've experienced, offering loads of seating perfect for groups. The tonkatsu here was, as expected, consistently awesome and just as delicious as our previous visits to other branches. The pork hirekatsu was incredibly tender, and the miso soup was absolutely excellent – a truly essential stop for us every time we're in Tokyo
